The Sensual Act of Eye Contact During Sex

Did you know that when two people gaze into each other’s eyes, it has the power to bring them closer together? This is partly because the eyes don’t lie. It has the capacity to show a range of emotions, and to trigger deeper connections.

In fact, a 1989 study showed that even staring into the eyes of a stranger for a mere two minutes conjured up mutual feelings of love, proving that eye contact and love are actually strongly linked.

A similar study from 2003 was equally as interesting. It found that the longer two people looked into each other’s eyes, the more attractive they became to the gazer. It’s undeniable… the eyes really are the windows to the soul.

And so, today we’re going to focus on the sensual act of eye contact during sex. What it’s all about, what kind of emotions it evokes, and how it has the potential to bring about more intimacy between partners.

Do You Like Locking Eyes During Love Making?

If you’re the type of person who likes locking eyes during love making, then you may have noticed a slew of positive mental and physical benefits in your relationship.

And while some may agree that eye contact sex could be quite awkward or intimidating, there really is a romantic science behind doing so.

You see, sexual eye contact is one of the most reliable indicators of love between partners. In fact, the eyes can help us to differentiate the difference between love and lust.

For example, if one spends more time staring into their partner’s eyes as opposed to their body, this is a strong indication of love.

Also, if you engage in eye contact during intercourse, you’ll have the opportunity to see the size of your partner’s pupils. This is important, as body language has taught us that when someone’s pupils are dilated, it signifies attraction.

Does Looking into Someone’s Eyes When Making Love Not Float Your Boat?

Eye contact during sex isn’t for everyone. This is evident due to a number of reasons; having sex with the lights off, using blindfolds, and even closing one’s eyes to engage in a bit of fantasy

But for those who don’t enjoy looking into someone’s eyes when making love because it makes them feel shy, insecure, or strange, why not try an exercise called tantric eye gazing?

As we’ve mentioned, there are many benefits to maintaining eye contact during intercourse, so there’s not all that much to lose and a whole lot to gain.

Tantric Eye Gazing to Promote Eye Contact Intimacy

Tantric eye gazing originated in India and involves connecting with yourself and your own energy on a deeper level, while feeling the power of the gaze with your partner.

Practicing tantric eye gazing involves two partners sitting opposite each other and staring deeply into each other’s eyes.

There are no other rules or guidelines for this activity besides the obvious: look into your partner’s eyes in a soft gaze and trying not to look away. This is said to bring about a spiritual and sexual connect, even though there is no sex involved.

You could use a timer if you’d like, and start off small with 30 seconds. Gradually, you can increase the time as you become more comfortable with this kind of eye contact intimacy.

4 Benefits of Sex Eye Contact

Besides the benefits of eye contact during sex that we’ve already mentioned, here are a few other pros to practicing this kind of intimacy.

  • Increased trust: eye contact during sex makes one appear more trustworthy.
  • More passion: when eyes are locked during intimacy, it creates a more warm, personable, and passionate experience.
  • Uninterrupted focus: when sexual eye contact happens during sex, it shows that a person is really focused on their partner, and that their lover is important to them.
  • Connection: spiritually, sexually, mentally, eye contact and love go hand-in-hand. It’s a moment of powerful shared energy that’s near impossible to recreate in a different way.

Eye Contact During Kissing: Yay or Nay?

So, let’s jump onto the topic of eye contact during kissing (if you saw the season of The Bachelor with Matt James, you may remember that he’s all about eye contact during kissing!). What are your thoughts?

From a connection standpoint, kissing with your eyes open can actually increase your levels of intimacy and affection.

This doesn’t mean that you need to have uninterrupted eye contact during kissing, but a few glances now and again could just bring you and your partner even closer together.

So, now that you know some of the intimate benefits that eye contact during sex can bring, are you going to give it a go? Or are you already all about that eye gazing connection?
